SCHOLARSHIP WINNER NAMED: Jordan Hansen, an IU Indianapolis senior, has been announced as the recipient of Senior Academy’s General Scholarship, one of three we give annually. Jordan is finishing a dual degree program with a Bachelor of Arts in History with a minor in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education in Social Studies Secondary Education. He is married with two children and serves in the Air National Guard while completing his degree. Congratulations to Jordan!

You must register to get location details. String Theory members will be happy to give you knitting or crocheting lessons. June 21 Volunteer Opportunities - Senior Academy members will join Retire United and other central Indiana volunteers during “Go All In Day” on Friday, June 21, 2024. On this day, hundreds of volunteers will serve at a wide variety of nonprofit agencies affiliated with the United Way of Central Indiana. Two volunteer opportunities have been selected for Senior Academy and Retire United members. To register, click the name of the agency where you would like to serve. Please register by June 7.
Save the Date for the Last Lecture – Professor Scott Deal will present the 2024 Last Lecture on November 8, 2024, at 2 p.m., in the Campus Center Theater. A 12-person selection committee representing units across the Indianapolis campus has selected Dr. Deal as the 2024 Last Lecturer. His presentation is called “A Musical Life in the Academy” and will begin with a live musical performance on the vibraphone. Dr. Deal is a Professor of Music Technology; he is the first faculty member in Music to be selected for the Last Lecture, which has been awarded annually since 2009. Senior Academy Book Club – The book group does not meet over the summer. However, you may want to start reading now! 10 books have been chosen for next year, with discussions beginning in August. Meetings will be over Zoom, on the 2nd Wednesday each month, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon.
